The winery
The Balìa di Zola winery is located in the municipality of Modigliana, in the heart of the Romagna hills, born in 2003 from the passion of Veruska and the skills of her husband Claudio in the field of viticulture and oenology. The company’s goal with its six hectares of vines is to enhance Sangiovese di Romagna. Balìa di Zola produces three labels, two based on Sangiovese, Balitore and Redinoce and one based on Albana, Isola.
The Wine
The Isola wine presents itself with a crystalline clarity that suggests its young age and freshness. The color is a straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose is rather intense, rather complex with a bouquet that recalls different floral varieties including hawthorn, acacia and linden, rounded off by notes of white fruit. The entry into the mouth is rather intense, with a perceptible but not intrusive softness given by alcohol, with good freshness, flavor and medium persistence. Isola Romagna DOCG Albana dry is a balanced and consistent wine both in the nose and in the mouth, certainly ready to drink.
Food matches: Perfect wine both alone as an aperitif, with light appetizers and medium structured first or second courses.
Matching cigars: Quai D’Orsay No.50, La Aurora Robusto 107, Italian Tuscan Cigar Tornabuoni Nazionale.
Conclusions
Isola Romagna DOCG Albana Dry is a fresh wine, with a medium aromatic intensity and ready to drink, excellent for a non-demanding and carefree drink and easy to combine with unstructured foods and cigars.
